Seeking Personal Happiness? – How’s Your Inner Reality Tracking?

Recently, I saw an article in the international press about happiness. This article and record was compiled by an organisation that exists to survey and report yearly on world happiness and rank countries on the supposed happiness of their inhabitants based on a number of external factors. Then, all of these external variants made up a ‘happiness quotient’ of the particular inhabitants of various countries. Needless to say, these happiness quotients were factors that were deemed important by global economists.

Some individuals believe that happiness comes from external circumstances…
such as wealth, success, or relationships, while others believe that happiness is an ‘inside job’ and is found within oneself through self-awareness, personal growth, and connection to higher consciousness.

However, I also truly believe that happiness is not only an un-measurable state, and it differs from person to person, it is also not an emotion that is truly experienced due to external factors. In fact, one could go as far as to say that if you are looking outside of yourself for happiness and are reliant on governments and economists to provide happiness for you, then the blissful state of happiness will not only be transient, it will prove to be a permanently illusive state.

So, where should one look for happiness?
Firstly, let’s take a reality check on your mindset. Where are you looking for happiness? Is it defined for you by others? Are you reliant on other people to ‘make’ you feel happy? Do you conduct the famous ‘retail therapy’ approach, whenever you are feeling a bit ‘‘blue’ or ‘down’? Are you always looking for, or striving for, the next ‘hit’ of whatever to make you happy?

When considering happiness, I would encourage individuals to look within themselves and cultivate a deep sense of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-worth. This involves identifying and releasing limiting beliefs, healing past emotional wounds, and developing a positive mindset that is aligned with one's values and desires.

Essentially learning techniques such as visualization, affirmations, meditation and energy healing will help you to shift your internal state and create a more positive and empowered mindset.

Also, when I am teaching the concepts around looking inside yourself for happiness I cannot over-emphasise the importance of taking personal responsibility for one's own happiness. You cannot blame external circumstances or other people for your own unhappiness and instead you must take ownership of your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

By doing so, in combination with my teachings around inner happiness, individuals can gain greater control over their happiness quotient and create a more fulfilling and joyful life from the inside out.
